Meet Sofie
Hello, I’m Rachel, the founder and CEO of LaPorte. I’d like you to meet Sofie, my service dog, six pounds of Bichon love and devotion. It doesn’t get much better than this!
My daughter surprised me with this bundle of love when she was eight weeks old and weighed less than a pound. Her hope was that Sof would help me get back into life. I’d been out of it, down on the mat so to speak, for over ten years, with a TBI (from a car accident) and PTSD, a serious condition that developed soon after, due to the constant and blatant exploitation that followed.
TBI and PTSD survivors must be among the most exploited people in the world. This was my experience and it’s a sign of the times. But with Sofie I could venture back into the world, the grocery store, the park, the Post Office, etc., and people wanted to talk to me about Sofie. They had questions. Where did I get her? How old was she? Was she always this good?
Instantly we were engaged in conversation and I was not as isolated as I had been for so long.
At LaPorte, it’s actually very personal…. We’re about integrity, honesty, decency, respect, and fair dealing. We have a higher standard because we know that in the end it’s the only thing that matters!
